Ekaterinburg, Russia, June 19, 2019 – USA defeated the Netherlands in five sets in their match in Ekaterinburg on Wednesday.
USA player Andrea Drews said: “I am pleased with my game today and with the way our team acted. I am glad that we were able to return to the game after the first two sets. At this stage, we are not showing our best volleyball, but still we are fine, we played well. The fact that we already qualified for the Final Six gave us more freedom today. It is necessary for all players to gain experience, so in today’s match we played those who received less practice.”
Netherlands coach Jamie Morrison said: “The USA team is a great team. In my opinion, this is one of the best serving teams in the world. They created a lot of problems for us on the pitch. In the first set, the opponent did not let us show the volleyball we had hoped for. I am upset that we lost in the end, although we led by games and could have finished the match in four sets. Our team needs to add in many more elements.”
