Apeldoorn, Netherlands, May 30, 2019 – Poland defeated pool hosts the Netherlands in Apeldoorn on Thursday to continue their strong run in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
Alessandro Beltrami, coach of the Netherlands: “I think we were playing well in block and defence in the second and third set. In my opinion we deserved to take a 2-1 lead in the game, but we got stuck in one rotation at the end of the third set. We tried everything to find a solution at that particular moment, but we didn’t find one. Poland was serving really strong, but we should have managed to make the side-out. The lesson we learned this week is that we have to make sure to stay in the rhythm. We had too many ups and downs in the matches against Bulgaria and Poland.”
Jacek Nawrocki, coach Poland: “If someone had told us before this tournament that we would beat Bulgaria, Brazil and the Netherlands, I would not have believed it. We are very happy with the three wins, but we also remain calm. We are not thinking about the Final Six yet, since we have a lot of tough matches coming up, for instance versus Serbia, Russia, China and USA.”
