Stuttgart, Germany, June 11, 2019 – The German Schmetterlinge celebrated a good start in Stuttgart as they defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-19, 14-25, 25-19, 25-21).

Felix Koslowski, German Coach: “We had a little blackout in the second set, but we fought back pretty good. When I changed some players, they brought back rhythm to the team immediately and we could start better in the third set. We wanted to be brave with our service and that´s what made the difference today. Belgium will be a tough match tomorrow, they played well against the Netherlands and they are playing a good VNL in general. But now that we finally won a game in front of our home crowd, we can be a little bit more relaxed.”

Hanna Orthmann, German Wing Spiker: “We are getting in shape and are better and reward ourselves for the hard work. Now that we won our first game in front of our home crowd, we want to win as many games as possible here in Stuttgart.”

Marcos Kwiek, Coach Dominican Republic: “Germany is a very good team. They had a great service and put us under high pressure. The service made the difference in the third set and changed the match completely. It was not the game we needed to play against a team like Germany.”
